“Simple Objects”

Diptyque has partnered with French designer Sam Baron to create a homeware collection named Simple Objects. Together with the brand, Baron has overseen four artists and a team of craftspeople to create a range that celebrates Diptyque’s iconic candles.

The overarching concept for the collection, which launched in Paris earlier this week, was a return to the simplicity of form. Each of the designers—Baron himself, Samuel Accoceberry, Cécile Bichon, Nicolas Mareau, and Gianpaolo Pagni —were chosen specifically by Diptyque, and as such, have been able to bring their own signature styles and expertise to the pieces they have created.

Throughout, materials that make up the candles, such as wood, wax, and glass, have been used—along with shapes that are associated with the brand, such as the oval-shaped logo, which is found on most of its products.

Inspired by this, the five creatives have gone on to make a collection that draws heavily on the power of simplicity. Impactful either individually or collectively, the pieces can be layered throughout the home— from table top to mantle pieces. Highlights include a porcelain candle vessel shaped to depict melting wax, and hand-turned wooden stands that elevate the candle above its usual height.
