Glenda at the Helm

This fall marks the tenth anniversary of Glenda Bailey as editor in chief and Stephen Gan as artistic director of Harper’s Bazaar, the oldest American fashion magazine, revered for its contributions to the worlds of fashion, photography and graphic design. Bailey and Gan were the “clean up crew” that resurrected Harper’s after short lived editor Kate Betts practically ran it into the ground. Harper’s was the fashion and design bible thanks to the combined genius of editor Liz Tilberis and art director Fabien Baron. Baron bowed out after Tilberis sadly lost her battle with ovarian cancer in 1999.

Bailey comes from a heavy fashion and publishing background and was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2008. Gan is one of the founders and creative director of the cutting-edge fashion magazine Visionaire.

For the Bailey / Gan anniversary, Abrams is publishing a book highlighting the feeds of the past decade. The book presents over 300 photographs documenting the best of couture of the 21st century. With contributions from personalities such as Naomi Campbell, Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld , Jean-Paul Goude, Terry Richardson, Tim Burton, David Lynch, among many others.
