The “L’Arc de Triomphe Wrapped” Backstory

Late last year, Christo and Jeanne-Claude‘s lifelong dream, “L’Arc de Triomphe Wrapped” was finally realized. Through 270,000 square feet of aluminum-coated blue polypropylene fabric tightly packed with red rope, visitors were reintroduced to the iconic monument located in the heart of Champs-Élysées.

For those who were not able to make the voyage to Paris, there will be a new opportunity to examine the 60-year study that led to the project. Presented by the Miyake Issey Foundation, the Tokyo-based museum, 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT, will present “Christo and Jeanne-Claude ‘L’Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped’” — a detailed look retracing Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s life through their major artistic projects, revealing the cornerstones of their unique artistic practice, along with the posthumous formation of “L’Arc de Triomphe Wrapped.”

The exhibition will start on June 13, 2022 and run until February 12, 2023.
