Ahead of the official launch during NYCxDesign, Herman Miller has unveiled the New Mexico collection, a range of two items honoring the camaraderie that developed between Herman Miller designers Alexander Girard and Charles and Ray Eames with painter Georgia O’Keeffe in the Southwestern state. Debuting a side table with Girard motifs and a special run of the Eames Wire Chair, the two limited-run pieces draw inspiration from O’Keeffe’s former Abiquiú home, frequented by the designers in the 1950s.

The Eames Wire Chair Low Base, available in a limited quantity of 300, references a custom piece designed by Charles and Ray Eames for the artist.  The upholstered seat features the Girard Toostripe boasting hues of ochre and sienna, echoing the palette of the surrounding landscape of New Mexico. Elsewhere, Girard’s signature snake motif is prominently displayed on the accompanying side table. Boasting a white enamel finish with a coiled black snake on the steel table, the top sits on splayed aluminum legs. The Girard Snake table is produced in an even smaller run, with 100 pieces available.The Herman Miller New Mexico collection is set for release in North America on May 20 and in Japan beginning in late May.
