The understated luxury fashion label, best known for its minimal style manifesto, has revealed the first series in its very own premium olfactory line that’s just as refined as its clothes.
Established in collaboration with beauty titan Coty, Jil Sander’s unisex fragrance collection is part of the brand’s lifestyle expansion and its efforts to reach new consumers across the world.
The debut line includes six scents, each made with key natural ingredients cut by marks of aldehydes. Notably, each scent was created in collaboration with various olfactory experts. Julie Massé, a Tokyo-born perfumer, helped make “Jil Sander Leaf,” which includes notes of key lime, cardamom and cornmint; while Mathilde Bijaoui, a Parisian scent maker, crafted “Jil Sander Miel,” which mixes cedarwood, vetiver and jasmine grandiflorum. Down the line, Sander’s additional scents include “Black Tea,” “Earth,” “Coffea” and “Smoke.”
All of Jil Sander’s fragrances come in subtle bottles made in partnership with Milan and Rotterdam-based design studio Formafantasma. Thanks to the designers’ “long series of experiments,” each packaging component boasts an organic, non-symmetrical shape and an original glass repartition.
