Break Out of the Box!

Honda has unveiled its two 2026 EV prototypes. Along with these new models coming down the pipeline, Honda quietly revealed its first major logo change since 1981.

The new branding features a reimagined “H” emblem on their hoods, appearing wider and forgoing the box that frames the current emblem. However, the updated emblem is not so new after all, as it appears to be a simplified version of Honda’s first H emblem introduced in 1961.

Honda’s classic wing logo from decorated the manufacturer’s vehicles in various styles throughout that time period. In 1981, the familiar rounded square containing a taller “H” came into circulation, an icon still used by Honda today.

Along with the revamped brand emblem, a futuristic sans-serif “Honda” wordmark was displayed on the back of a prototype. As Honda continues to share details about its forthcoming EVs, a closer look at the automaker’s new visuals is also likely to surface.

Honda is not the only automotive brand tweaking its identity for the EV revolution. Audi’s China exclusive EVs replace the German brand’s interlocked circle logo with a sans-serif “AUDI” word mark and Jaguar recently unveiled a bold brand overhaul as well.
